Dan taught choral music in the area public schools for three years before becoming the worship pastor at Church on the Hill in south Salem, where he spent six years on staff.

Bill Bates

Seniors & Care Ministries

Pastor Bill and his wife Becca moved to Salem in 2018 after over 40 years of ministry in Washington as both associate and lead pastors. So, his role here at Peoples Church as Pastor of Pastoral Care is a natural fit, having done it almost all of his life. They are the proud parents of five children (all in full-time ministry in Oregon, California and Texas) and five grandchildren.

Bill received his education from Northwest University with a BA in Biblical Studies in 1975 and then obtained a DMin from Northwest Graduate School of the Ministry in 1999. He has been privileged to travel to over 20 countries in ministry and operated a ministry school that had 94 graduates with many of them currently in full-time ministry.

As a couple they love to visit their grandchildren, explore the Northwest, and enjoy various eating establishments. Becca is a part-time employee of Edward Jones, and Bill enjoys doing just about anything that gets him outdoors, which includes hunting and fishing, golfing and hiking, and just recently, skydiving!
